"Saturn in IR685 nm light. I also attach a polar projection where I attempted to roughly estimate the decagon orientation.
I'm also attaching a reflectance spectrum. Two of the main absorption bands caused by methane in the planet's atmosphere are clearly visible (the most obvious one at 900 nm is missing, but the sensor used was almost blind at those wavelengths). The curve above is simply a graph of the spectrum intensity vs. wavelength; you can see the dips corresponding to the CH4 bands. The last band at 7600 nm does not come from Saturn, but from our atmosphere."

We had clear skies here briefly on 10th October (although the Met Office insisted it was going to be clear all night...) and I made an observation of Saturn. The rings are now very narrow with B= -1.1‹ and according to my log books,I've not observed the rings this thin since 2010.
The Globe:
ESPR: Not as well defined as before but the bluish colour remains.
ESSTB - STB: Thin warm belts and the zones between them continue to show a greenish tint.
ESEB: A broad region- at times it looked like there might have been two components. The SEB(N) was the darkest region with some darker sections.
EEZ: A bright region and both the northern and southern EZ each contain a greyish EB. The SHRG can be seen in the EZ(N) and is now quite striking.
ENEB: A broad belt with two components. The NEB(S) is the darkest of the two.
ENTB: This seems to be easier to see tonight and is a bluish colour. At times a faint NNTB could be seen.
EN3TB: A bluish band slightly easier to see than the NTB.
ENPR: Slightly better defined tonight. For the first time I had the impression of some bluish colour present in the region.
The Rings: Now just a thin slither of golden light. Remarkably the Cassini Division could be detected as a greyish patch. No other details seen within the rings. The ShGR could be made out.
I had hoped to watch Rhea pass on to the disk to see how long I could see it for. Alas the clouds came up at 2048UT and remained all night.
