| Jupiter images and maps,24th February by A.Casely |
ere's a nice image set from Tuesday in good seeing, with Oval BA in view, and hopefully just a little helpful for the various professional observing campaigns too. Quite a lot of detail in the two methane images and in IR, even towards higher latitudes, with a couple of northern FFRs appearing in IR. The ring on the STrZ is resolved in IR, and appears as a bright spot in methane. I've added maps for the IR and methane data. The second methane image was with the 585MM and 2x binning, which worked quite well in relation to my usual 462MC methane imaging. I also played around with the preprocessing blur feature in Autostakkert which definitely helped the image selection and alignment and measurably improving the stacked output for the images, particularly the methane. These are probably close to my limit with low altitude and summer seeing, they were my best and most enjoyable Jupiter data for a couple of years. Bring on higher altitude again! Clear skies all![]()
